For the second consecutive year, Glastonbury-based Smith Brothers Insurance participated in the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) Foundation Hartford Chapter's annual Diaper Drive for My Sisters Place. This year, employees at Smith Brothers exceeded their goal and set a new record by collecting more than 4,700 diapers.
Heading up the Diaper Drive at Smith Brothers was David Burke, David French, and Syed Ali. Supporting the Diaper Drive is part of Smith Brothers' ongoing "Helping Others" philosophy, a dedicated commitment to continually giving back to the community and helping those in need.
John LaBelle, PLUS Hartford Chapter Steering Committee, stated, "You guys were once again one of our largest supporters. The diapers that everyone unselfishly donated were able to fill several truckloads and we are not done yet. Last year we estimated that we had close to 15,000 diapers. This year we had over 25,000 diapers! We have surpassed everyone's expectations."
Since 1982, My Sisters Place has created a safe and nurturing shelter for homeless families, and easily goes through 6,000 diapers per month.
David Burke, co-organizer of the Smith Brothers' event, summed it up by stating, "What a spectacular community effort to help others. I'm proud of our team who worked together to make things happen for those that needed a helping hand."
Smith Brothers is one of the largest independently operated insurance and financial service organizations in New England. Smith Brothers has offices in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
